Fire Safety Commission Report

Rest in Peace Fire Commission Roger Potts.

Congratulations to our new Chairman Kevin Krushinski and Vice-Chairman Pat Intindola.

From the Operation 7:Save-a-Life program there are still 10-year sealed-battery smoke alarms to be distributed.

The Division is working on the proposed legislation for junior firefighters program by setting true guidelines and making it an asset to the fire service.

The Division is working on a Fire and EMS Lifeline to help firefighters with mental health issues.

The Division is working with the Atlantic City Fire Department to bring about better public safety and firefighter safety in their time of difficult funding.

There are two items – 10-year sealed-battery smoke alarms and the propane tank labeling – will not go into effect until January 1, 2019.

The Division will be hosting the first “Mid-Atlantic Fire Safety Summit which will include partnering with Maryland, Delaware, Washington DC., New York, and Pennsylvania. The event will be held at the Sheraton Raritan Center in Edison on November 28th, 2018. It will run from 10:30 am until 3:30 pm; registration and lunch are free.

The minutes of the meetings are sent out after they are approved at the commission meeting via our the Chiefs’ Goggle Group.

They are also listed on the Division Web Site.

Regards,
Larry Wood
